7th and 8th Grade Protective Behaviors

Middle school is an exciting time! Even though they are growing into young adults on the outside - they are still kids at heart and need (and want) your guidance. Something that we have seen young adult struggle with is sexual harassment in schools. Sexual Harassment is not confined to the adult workplace. Studies show more than 70% of teens experience sexual harassment and the offender is often a peer. Being that safe adult your child can talk to can make all the difference.

  • Technology has become an important part of our lives, with that teens may being exposed to situations and conversations they might not know how to respond to

    • Talk to our teens about digital citizenship. (that we our citizens of the digital world just like the real world)

    • What they do online matters and nothing we post online disappears

    • They don't need to feel pressured to take photos or send messages that make them uncomfortable

  • Continue to encourage empathy in all things.
