5th and 6th Grade Protective Behaviors

We want our children to master their world and to be safe as they explore new found freedoms. Relationships with friends begin to change and evolve and may include a "crush" on a peer and friendship drama. Keep the conversations about body safety and respecting personal space going! Your discussion should include social media and responsible use of technology.

Importance message from you might include:

  • Mutual respect for personal space

  • Don't share personal information on your cell phone that you wouldn't share with your parent or teacher.

  • If anyone shares inappropriate messages or pictures on your cell phone, talk to a trusted adult

  • What if a friend makes you feel uncomfortable, what can you do?

Internet Safety

This short film is made by kids to talk about being safe online. It is vital to talk to our kids about being safe on their phones. We adults know how easy things like sexual harassment and bullying can happen over technology. The digital world can be a positive amazing place and it will be when we start teaching our kids how to be safe digital citizens.
